We’ve received feedback from some users experiencing issues when using VAXEE wireless mice on glass mousepads—specifically, the mouse occasionally fails to move due to the sensor's lift-off distance being too low. This is because, during the initial development of the sensor, traditional cloth pads were the primary surface used for testing and compatibility. As a result, glass pads tend to be less stable in terms of surface compatibility. When thicker mouse skates are used in such cases, it's easier for the sensor to go beyond its effective tracking range.

To address this issue, VAXEE has partnered with the professional mouse skate brand “Unusual Way Sports” to launch the popular round-shaped skates known as Silver Fox (Dot) — widely favored by glass pad enthusiasts. These skates are designed with a thickness of 0.65mm, compared to the usual 0.8mm for round skates. When paired with VAXEE mice, they help effectively prevent tracking issues caused by the sensor sitting too far from the surface when used on glass pads.

Additionally, VAXEE’s original skates are designed to offer a smoother glide. However, understanding that some users prefer a less slippery and more controlled feel, we’re also offering the Silver Fox full-coverage skates, which are better suited for control-focused use. These skates have a thickness of 0.7mm (±0.02mm), helping to maintain the proper sensor height and prevent tracking issues. They also protect the mouse base from potential scratching caused by rougher mousepad textures.

Going forward, we will continue working closely with Unusual Way Sports to offer a wider variety of mouse skates for VAXEE mice, tailored to different user preferences. Below are the mouse models and skate types featured in this collaboration. If you're interested, please take a look.
