Q: Hi Kikumusubi, first of all congratulations on your work “Clear” standing out in the Summer26 submission event. This is your second time winning through online voting—do you have anything you’d like to share with everyone?

A: Thank you very much for selecting my work in Summer26.

When the online voting results were announced, I was so happy that I actually did a little jump alone in my room.

Everyone’s support has always been the driving force behind my creations.
I’m truly grateful to everyone who voted for me, as well as those who have continued to use my previous work Trigger. Thank you sincerely…!

Q: Both this work and your previous winning piece “Trigger” feature female characters holding guns. Could you share the inspiration and process behind this piece?

A: Since the previous work leaned more toward an action-oriented style, this time I wanted to try something softer and more calm.

However, at the beginning there wasn’t a clear concept—I simply decided to create a “summer-like, refreshing atmosphere” and started drawing.

I sketched freely based on whatever came to mind, eventually producing around eight rough compositions which I compared, adjusted, and rearranged. I spent the whole day thinking it through, got mentally tired, and ended up going to sleep.

The next morning, half-asleep, I trusted my intuition and chose the design that felt like “this is it.”

The fact that it again ended up being a gun-themed illustration was purely coincidental… lol




Q: During the creation process, did you encounter any challenges or memorable moments?

A: In a somewhat abstract way, I struggled a lot with suppressing the urge to “add more colors” and “render shadows in greater detail.”

It’s actually one of my personal struggles—I’m not very good at controlling my art style, and it tends to shift unconsciously every time I draw.

I’m still in the process of finding my own direction.
However, considering this piece would be used as a daily-access device for users, I intentionally avoided making it too flashy or heavy, and instead aimed for a lighter, simpler painting style.

On the other hand, I made the water textures more realistic to balance the overall composition.

Q: Besides anime-style works, do you explore other styles? Will you try different themes in future submissions?

A: I usually focus on anime-style illustrations.

Even so, I often find myself influenced when looking at other creators’ amazing works and feel tempted to try different styles.
However, as mentioned before, my current priority is to stabilize my own art style first.

Q: Any final words for everyone? And how can fans find you?

A: Once again, I sincerely thank everyone who voted for my work, as well as VAXEE for providing such a wonderful platform. I truly appreciate it.

If Clear can contribute even a little to someone’s daily life or creative inspiration, that would make me very happy.

I also occasionally update my work on X and Pixiv (though not very frequently at the moment). I would be glad if you stopped by.

Q: First, could you introduce yourself?

A: Hello everyone! I’m 阿酸( ´▽` )ﾉ

Q: When did you start creating? Do you have any memorable experiences from your creative journey to share?

A: It all started when a friend shared the VAXEE announcement with me! (Big thanks to my friends)

At first, I struggled a lot with color choices and tried many different sketches, but in the end I still chose a pink-dominant palette.

Q: Please share the inspiration and process behind your Summer26 entry.

A: I wanted to try a different pixel-art style, combined with my usual candy-color aesthetic. That was the idea behind this piece :P
